Nightlife
in The Poconos
After Movie Hang Out - Sweet Creams, 429 Main Street, Stroudsburg. What better, after the thriller of the month, than to still your nerves with a dish of cinnamon ice cream. Night out for Grown-ups - Pocmont Resort' "International Buffet" & "Wings Around the World Show" Most Tuesdays and Fridays go and enjoy the "International Buffet" featuring Jumbo Shrimp and King Crab Legs, plus mouth-watering cuisine from around the world in a fun and relaxing atmosphere. Begin with a trip to the Salad Bar and then select a variety of your favorite foods from Italian, Asian and Home Style Cooking Stations. Finish with a trip to the Dessert Factory offering a variety of treats to satisfy anyone's sweet tooth. Then board Pocmont Airlines as they fly you to exotic destinations and ports of call in the new Broadway Style Musical Revue "Wings Around the World". Bar for Grown-ups - The little (about 10 seat) bar at the Landmark Cafe on Rt 209 at exit 309. Quiet, the right mix of tourists and local. Meaning.... few tourists. Brew Pub - Unanimous Winner - Barley Creek, Camelback Road, Tannersville 629-9399. It's the atmosphere and in the summer the view of the mountain from the back deck. It's why we live in and visit the mountains. Dance Club - It's a streach. But the votes are for The Woodlands. 1073 Hwy 15, Wilkes Barre. It's out of town. But, we've no choice here, there were no votes for a local club. Deck Scene - The Sarah Street Grill, Sarah Street, Stroudsburg Grab your coolest shades, order yourself a Heini, lean on the rail and contemplate the hunks. You and your girl friends will be giggling like teenagers in no time. Dive Bar - hmmm.. maybe the Minisink? First Date Spot - day - Civil - Brunch at Skytop. Less civil - Horse racing at the Down's in Eagle Glenn Mall in East Stroudsburg - Even less civil - The Pub at Werry's (We'd suggest darts and Coors Light). Night - Dinner at The Stone Bar and Billards at Gallary Billiards on Rt 611 Bartonsville. Jazz Club - The Deerhead, Main Street, Delaware Water Gap . They've lost Johnny. But, we think you can still here his music resonate from the walls during the breaks. For the best in jazz, local and imported, The Deerhead rules. If you go every week for 3 years you'll get to sit on each barstool 5 times. Stay close to the action, as sometimes the noise can drown out the sound of the Grammy. Late Night (early morning) Diner - The Snydersville Diner. Rt 209 Snydersville (no need to call they're always open) . Could it be anywhere else? Since everyone reading this was in grade school, it's been the place to go after the school dance, play, prom, or game. Still is. The pies are homemade and fresh, the coffee consistent, and breakfast... well, what can you say about a hamandcheeseomeletwithryetoast at 3 AM? Gotta have it. Music Venue, Original Music - Sarah Street Grille, Off Sarah Street, Stroudsburg Ya never know what to expect. But, do it just for the experience. Neighborhood Bar - Decision coming soon.. we haven't tried them all yet. Singles Scene, Winter - The Lounge at Camelback. Camelback Resort. 629-1661 It's a bar, really, and packed during the winter on Saturdays and Sundays. See our feature story. |
"Nightcrawler" Tells the Forbidden Tales of a Night on the Town in The Poconos: .................................. How We Judge The Best Dive Bar: First: From the Street. It's gotta be out of the way. Hopefully unpainted. Lots of cars. Second: From the doorway. You should be able to see the pool table, who's playing and for how much. Third: There has to be a juke box. Fourth: Nobody. Nobody can be wearing a suit. Fifth: If there's a cowboy, it's a winner! |
